Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 June 2026
This policy explains how the Meld app and our website at meldplay.com ("Meld", "we", "us") handle information. Meld is made by an independent developer. If you have any questions, email us any time at privacy@meldplay.com.
What we don't do
- We don't require an account — no name, email, or password to play.
- We don't show ads or use any advertising networks.
- We don't use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and we don't show the App Tracking Transparency prompt, because we don't track you.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites, or build advertising profiles about you.
- We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, or microphone.
- We don't sell or rent your information to anyone. Ever.
What we do collect
1. Anonymous usage analytics
To understand how people enjoy the game and where it can improve, Meld records a small set of anonymous, aggregated events using Google Firebase Analytics — for example: the app being opened, a game starting or ending, a booster being used, the unlock screen being viewed, and whether a purchase was made. These events are not tied to your identity, and ad-personalisation signals are switched off (Google Consent Mode is set to deny). Firebase also derives broad, non-identifying technical details such as device model, operating-system version, and general region.
2. Anonymous crash reports
When the app crashes, Google Firebase Crashlytics sends us an anonymous crash report — the technical stack trace, device model, and OS version at the moment things went wrong — so we can find and fix the bug. These reports contain no personal information.
3. Purchases
If you buy the one-time unlock (or a content pack), the purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see or store your name, card, or payment details — Apple does. We only receive an anonymous confirmation that a purchase succeeded, so the app can unlock your content and restore it later.
4. Your game progress (stays on your device)
Your scores, best results, unlocked animals, and settings are saved locally on your device. We don't upload them to our servers — we don't have a server for them. If you delete the app, that local data goes with it.
Our website (meldplay.com)
When you visit meldplay.com, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site — for example which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors come from — so we can improve it. To do this, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects standard technical information such as browser type, device, and approximate region (derived from your IP address, which Google does not store in full — typically resolving to city level, e.g. your nearest large city, not a precise location). We do not enable Google's cross-site advertising features (Google Signals), so this data is used only to measure our own site and not to build advertising profiles or follow you across other websites.
You can opt out at any time using your browser's cookie controls, a tracking-blocker extension, or Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. Note that the in-app analytics described above are separate and remain fully anonymous.
Who processes this data
The anonymous analytics and crash data above are processed on our behalf by:
- Google Firebase (in-app Analytics & Crashlytics) — Firebase privacy & security, Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics (meldplay.com website analytics) — Google Privacy Policy.
- Apple (App Store & in-app purchases) — Apple Privacy Policy.
Because these providers operate globally, anonymous data may be processed on servers outside your country, including the United States. Google provides appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for those transfers.
Why we're allowed to do this (legal basis)
For visitors in the UK, EU, and other regions with similar laws (UK GDPR / GDPR), we rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the game and our website and keeping them stable. The in-app data we collect is anonymous and not used to identify or profile you, and the website analytics are used only to measure our own site (see "Our website" above).
How long we keep it
Anonymous analytics and crash data are retained according to Google Firebase's standard retention settings and are only ever held in aggregate, non-identifying form.
Your choices & rights
Because everything we collect is anonymous and not linked to your identity, we usually have no way to single out "your" data. You can stop all analytics and crash collection at any time by deleting the app from your device. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data; if you believe we hold any information about you, email privacy@meldplay.com and we'll help. UK/EU residents may also complain to their local data-protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Children's privacy
Meld is gentle and family-friendly, and people of all ages enjoy it. It is not directed at children under 13, is not part of Apple's Kids Category, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app collects no personal information from anyone, this applies to children too. If you're a parent or guardian with a concern, please contact us at privacy@meldplay.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Meld handles information, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Meaningful changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
